The song was originally posted at the beginning of the month. While on Song Exploder podcast, Solange explained that the origins of “Cranes in the Sky” go all the way back to 2008 while her and Raphael Saadiq were working on her sophomore album. And now D.C.’s Go-Go group Backyard Band has released a stunning cover of the track. There was the Kaytranada edit, Common‘s remix, and Styles P‘s remix of the song, which is called “ Ghost In The Sky.” Rapper Nick Grant also released a mixtape that featured a remix of “Cranes in the Sky” and three other songs from A Seat at the Table. Since the release of Solange‘s beautiful and moving “Cranes in the Sky,” there have been multiple remixes and edits.
